You're Beautiful, Sexy, Intelligent, Efficient, Hard Working, Erm, Anything Else?
Men have become too concerned about political correctness to give a compliment to the opposite sex, a new survey says.
And 65% of women suspect there is nothing innocent behind a flattering remark from a work colleague or new acquaintance. While 89% of women loved to receive a compliment, 67% felt uncomfortable if it came from anybody other than their partner. Some 12% said no one had paid them a compliment in the past three months, the poll found.
Christine Webber, a relationship expert, said: "While it may seem somewhat frivolous, a compliment is in fact a vital ingredient for well-being. The trick though is to be able to pay someone a compliment and make them feel good about themselves, rather than coming over as smarmy or, worse, a bit lecherous."
Being a bit old fashioned I have to say I think it is perfectly acceptable to give general compliments to a lady of your acquaintance. Specific compliments to strangers are sure to cause ill feeling. So, in my world, 'You're looking particularly nice today' to a colleague is acceptable, 'Nice tits darlin' from the top deck of a bus is not.
What do you think, gorgeous?

To all the women I know...you're beautiful.

I'm scared to death of complimenting female colleagues, but I think that's more to do with the single sex education than political correctness.
