The ad, featuring a model in a melon-coloured bikini, has infuriated women's groups who say the country's men are already bad enough without any encouragement. Now a group of 13 women are suing manufacturers Peshtera.

"You can't walk down the street now without some a**hole shouting, 'Hey - nice watermelons' and trying to see if they are ripe," a spokeswoman said. "The advert encourages sexism and is causing women real harm and humiliation," said one woman.

The claim has already been filed with local justice authorities.  "This advert deeply and permanently discriminates against us as women, illegally infringes our personal lives, and violates European law on equal treatment of sexes in the provision of services," it states.
